He was born 29th May in Massachusetts to a wealthy family. He was educated at Harvard, graduating in 1940. He served in the American Navy in the Pacific during WW2, entering politics in 1946. In 1960 Kennedy won the presidential nomination and went on to defeat Richard Nixon for president the same year being the first Catholic head of state and at 43 the youngest. He worked hard to give African Americans the same rights as American citizens. Because of the failed American invasion of Cuba, the Russian President Kruschev saw Kennedy as a weak leader and commenced to establish a Russian nuclear base on Cuba. This led to 'The Cuban missile crisis' which brought the whole world to the brink of nuclear war. After a 13 day stand off Kruschev withdrew his missiles. Kennedy also achieved the desegregation of both Mississippi and Alabama universities.He was assassinated in Dallas on 22nd November 1963 at the age of 46, with many believing that it was a conspiracy killing.
