He was in favour of reducing the abortion limit from 24 to 12 weeks and also in favour of a paid insurance scheme for the NHS. His advisor is Nick Seddon who has written a book about privatising the NHS. He said 'there are natural monopolies in health care where patient choice is never going to drive change' Because of introducing new contracts (resulting in pay cuts) for junior doctors, they are currently striking for the first time in 40 years. Presently there is deadlock in negotiations.
